Open Streets 2023
On Sunday, June 25, 2023 Jamaica Plain closed its main street (Centre Street) from 9am until 3pm to traffic and opened to pedestrians only. JP Chess set up 16 boards (8 tables) for tournaments and 4 boards (2 tables) for casual chess.

There were both morning and afternoon tournaments. For each tournament the group if entrants were split in to two groups A and B with the higher rated players in Group A. The morning tournament had x entrants and the afternoon had 32 players. Each group played a four round SWISS with two games per round. Time controls were 5 minutes and no increments.
​
Games were unrated, entry was free but there were prizes on the line donated from businesses Kendal Square Dental, J.P. Licks, JP Seafood, On Centre, Café Beirut and Caffé Nero and Blue Frog Bakery. Prizes consisted for gift cards, books and chess key-rings.
