Wake up the Earth Festival 2022

The Wake Up the Earth Festival began in 1979 when a group of local neighbors and activist banded together to stop the Interstate 95 expansion into Jamaica Plain. The festival began as, and still is, a celebration of what can be accomplished when people of all traditions, cultures, ages, and beliefs come together. A great many individuals, local artists, community groups, and schools join forces every year to make a unique community collaboration.

The event (pandemic permitting) will be held on May 7, 2022  at the SW corridor, right outside of Stony Brook Station (orange line). JP Chess are hoping to participate. We'll bring along some tables, chess sets and clocks and may organize a tournament. Note that this is a "Zero Waste Festival" so please help us protect the earth by BRINGING YOUR OWN CUTLERY AND CUPS/MUGS!

We are looking for some volunteers to help set up, stay at the tables throughout the event (from noon until 6:00pm), play some locals chess and promote the club. We are also open to ideas and suggestions that will make the event more fun. We'll have about six sets set up for the day with clocks available.
