This FREE tournament is the final event in the series 'Five Days of Chess', a series of chess events made possible through a grant from the Mayor's Office of Arts and Culture. The tournament is open to all chess players regardless of rating. Rated sections require USCF membership. Note that the format of the tournament may change depending on the number of entrants.

Blitz, G/10 d0 (10 mins, no increment)

7 Rounds, 1 game per round (color determined by SWISS pairing system)

Schedule

12:40pm - Venue doors open. 

1:10pm - Players must be present and inform tournament director of presence.

1:10pm - Spots freed up (if players not present) and made available to others.

1:30pm - Round 1

2:00pm - Round 2

2:30pm - Round 3

3:00pm - Round 4

3:30pm - Round 5

4:00pm - Round 6

4:30pm - Round 7

5:00pm - Closure and Prize Giving

Rounds 2-7 may start sooner than scheduled. After each round each player should inform a tournament administrator of the board and score. If you wish to leave the tournament before completion of the seven rounds, please inform the tournament administrator.

Rules

USCF Blitz rules will apply which include touch move and "taking of the king". Please read. No use of phones permitted during games.

Safety and Notices

  • If you feel sick or have been in close contact with someone recently with COVID please do not attend the tournament.

  • The event is taking place in a public location. Please keep your belongings safe and with you at all times.

  • Parental supervision is required for all juniors.

  • Photography will happen at the event and may be used in social media posts.

  • All players must be present and confirm present with tournament director by 1:10pm (no late entries)

  • Failure to confirm present will result in removal from tournament.

Registration

Tournament registration will open on August 1, 2024. As physical space is limited, please only register if you are certain you can attend the tournament. If you register and can no longer attend, please inform us via email to jamaicaplainchess@gmail.com. Click on the button below to begin registration. In-person registration may be possible on the day (before 1:15pm) if spots are available.
